Brian Edkins Death – Obituary : Cape Fear High School had lost an endearing father and mentor, Principal Brain Edkins who died on Tuesday, 6th of July, 2021. Brain was 51 when he passed on, there is no information on the cause of death as family and friends reported that his death was sudden. Edkins is survived by his wife, Dr. Susan Edkins and his children.

Cumberland County community acknowledged the amazing works done by Edkins. In the statement released by Dr. Marvin Connelly Jr., Superintendent of Cumberland County Schools,  ”Edkins was in public education for more than 25 years and served in several positions in the school system, including as a teacher, safe school coordinator, assistant principal and athletic director. He also served as principal of South View and Scotland high schools” We will always remember his remarkable contributions to our school system,” Connelly said. “He was a tremendous educational leader who dedicated his life to serving young people and leading others to do the same.” Dr. Marvin Connelly said.

Cumberland County schools tweeted, ”It is with a very heavy heart that we share the passing of Mr. Brian Edkins, the beloved principal of Cape Fear High School. He passed away suddenly this morning. This is a great loss for the entire Cumberland County community.
Mr. Edkins, whose career in public education spanned more than 25 years, served diligently in various capacities in Cumberland County Schools. During his tenure with the school system, he served as a teacher, safe school coordinator, assistant principal/athletic director and principal of South View and Cape Fear high schools. He also served as the principal of Scotland High School.
We will always remember his remarkable contributions to our school system. He was a tremendous educational leader who dedicated his life to serving young people and leading others to do the same.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Dr. Susan Edkins, their children and the entire Cape Fear High School community during this difficult time.
