”RIP Mike Wiegele. Some of the best memories I have ever experienced on skis where with Mike. Getting to explore the amazing terrain of his tenure in BC with one of the true pioneers of skiing is something I’ll never forget. This photo was from a spontaneous interview we did with him on top of a mountain while we waited for light to ski. I’ll never forget some of the candid stories that came from that and latter that day having beers with him back at the guide shack. My thoughts are with the family and the whole crew, especially with @sayerbob who worked along side Mike for decades who not only treated their guests to phenomenal skiing, but where also at the forefront of making sure the whole mechanized ski industry was as safe as possible. Out of all of the “legends” of skiing I’ve been fortunate to spend time with in the mountains, very few have has as big of an influence on me then the one on one time I was fortunate to have with Mike. We lost a true legend and pioneer today in every sense of the words.”  Grant Gunderson posted on Facebook.

”Mike lived a remarkable life. He had an unparalleled passion for skiing, was a fearless entrepreneur and was a tireless and innovative advocate for safety in the mountains. His industry leadership spans 50+ years leading to numerous national and international commendations.
Competitor, coach, pioneer, entrepreneur, husband, father, and man of the mountains. We remember the motto by which Mike lived his life, and we carry it with us in our hearts and into the mountains.  “Let’s Go Skiing”  Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing posted on Facebook.
