Casey Purdy Death – Obituary – 40-year-old Casey Purdy of Swartz Creek, Michigan passed away September 5 2021. Casey worked in the Flint Area School district as a Kindergarten teacher, and was very giving and was the embodiment of what a real teacher should be, providing her kindergarten kids with the best education and experience possible.

Casey Purdy also studied Special education at University of Michigan–Flint after she attended Swartz Creek High School. Purdy was a kindergarten teacher at the Brownell STEM academy during the week and picked up a second job bartending downtown Flint to help pay for supplies in her classroom.

I’m proud of you and all that you have accomplished and wish I could call you and tell you right now, I will forever be grateful to have had you as my best friend and will live to tell everyone how great you are and the fun we had. ”Casey Purdy teaches a kindergarten class and took a second job bartending to help pay for supplies in her classroom because of cuts in the district. Her story was featured on the news this summer, and one viewer decided to help. Steve Kischnick has done TikTok challenges before, asking his followers on social media to donate money for someone in need. Steve raised $500 with help from his followers and he surprised Casey with it.
The teacher was moved to tears by the generosity. Like many teachers, Casey pays out of pocket to make sure her students have basic items like paper and scissors for school and this donation will really help her cover those costs….”

According to Obituary Page, ”In accordance with Casey’s wishes cremation will take place. A celebration of life will begin 6:30 PM, Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the Flushing Valley Country Club, 1124 E Main St, Flushing. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek.

Casey was born on May 14, 1981 in Flint the daughter of Jim and Jody (Sass) Purdy. She graduated from Swartz Creek High School, class of 1999. Casey received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Michigan, Flint. She taught special education and kindergarten for many years with the Flint Community Schools. Casey also worked for the Whiting and Capitol Theater in Flint. She had a heart of gold who loved her students and teaching. Casey always loved to make sure her family knew she was the middle child. She enjoyed gardening and her adventures like whitewater rafting, zip lining and skydiving.

She is survived by her parents, Jim and Jody Purdy; sisters, Tara (Eric) Busch and Hayley Purdy and her fiancé, Zach Smithingell; several aunts, uncles, cousins, special friends, her two kitty’s, Snow and Lenny, and most importantly the students she taught…..”
