Death – Obituary

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man has died after he opened fire on deputies following a traffic stop on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. in the area of Cedar and North avenues.

Detectives with the sheriff’s Ag Task Force were on a nearby property investigating the theft of farm equipment when they reportedly spotted a man driving away from the area.

Deputies say they tried to pull the man over, but he refused to stop.

About a minute later, the man reportedly crashed his car, rolling it over onto its roof.

Following the crash, authorities say the man immediately started firing shots at the deputies behind him.

In order to stay a safe distance away from the car, deputies used a drone to check on the man and saw he appeared to be injured and wasn’t moving.

After deciding it was safe to approach, deputies found the man dead inside of the car. The Sheriff’s Office says it’s too early to determine how he died.

An investigation is currently underway to determine if any deputies fired their guns during the incident.

What Is An Obituary

In national newspapers an obituary (obit for short) is a news article that reports the recent death of a prominent person. Although it tends to focus on positive aspects of the subject’s life this is not always the case. According to Nigel Farndale, the Obituaries Editor of The Times: “Obits should be life affirming rather than gloomy, but they should also be opinionated, leaving the reader with a strong sense of whether the subject lived a good life or bad; whether they were right or wrong in the handling of their public affairs.”

In local newspapers, an obituary may be published for any local resident upon death. A necrology is a register or list of records of the deaths of people related to a particular organization, group or field, which may only contain the sparsest details, or small obituaries. Historical necrologies can be important sources of information.
