Herbert “Sonny” John Wayne Bradshaw

Herbert “Sonny” John Wayne Bradshaw, 77, of Spiro, Oklahoma passed from this life December 18, 2021 in Spiro. He was born May 24, 1944 in Bonanza, Arkansas to John and Donnie Rogers Bradshaw Sonny had worked in concrete refinishing with Daniel Brothers and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam.

Sonny is survived by his daughter Johnnie Claudio and her husband Scott White; his son Clayton Bradshaw; two grandchildren, Chloe Terrell and her husband Jack and Kevin Fiore; longtime girlfriend Anita McCaslin; his sister Clara Treat; a brother Don Bradshaw and his wife Debbie; and his brother-in-law, Bill McKenzie. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Barbara Bradshaw; his parents; his sister Joyce McKenzie and brother-in-law, Clarence Treat.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, with United States Army Honors will follow at Leard Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm Monday, December 27, 2021 at Edwards Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Fiore, Cody Bradshaw, Ben Daniels, Shannon Daniels, Colton Daniel and Dody Luu.

In national newspapers an obituary (obit for short) is a news article that reports the recent death of a prominent person. Although it tends to focus on positive aspects of the subject’s life this is not always the case. According to Nigel Farndale, the Obituaries Editor of The Times: “Obits should be life affirming rather than gloomy, but they should also be opinionated, leaving the reader with a strong sense of whether the subject lived a good life or bad; whether they were right or wrong in the handling of their public affairs.”

In local newspapers, an obituary may be published for any local resident upon death. A necrology is a register or list of records of the deaths of people related to a particular organization, group or field, which may only contain the sparsest details, or small obituaries. Historical necrologies can be important sources of information.
