Death – Obituary

Nancy Jean Redington

There is no doubt that you have earned your angel wings. On Thursday, December 23, 2021, the Lord brought home Nancy Jean Redington (Ciesielski). She fought hard to stay on earth and left peacefully with her beloved husband of 52 years and daughters by her side.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley, and Florence Ciesielski. She is survived by her faithful husband William, her daughters Patricia (Michael) Ravert and Mandi Leap. She leaves behind her grandchildren Ronald III (Samantha), Dallas (Vaugh), Josie (Austin), Blaize, Timmy, and Kane and her great grandchildren, Tyler, David, and Willow.

She will miss her luncheons with her sisters Sharon Markert, Mary Maddy and her Aunt Bonnie Potts and weekly dinners with her daughters and Mickey Giosa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either Bingo’s Foundation (www.bingosfoundation.org ) or the Mason Chandler Allen Memorial Foundation (www.mcamf.org) which was founded to fund research to find better treatment for osteosarcoma, the most common bone cancer affecting children and adolescents, which took the life of Blaize’s best friend at 13 years old. Since that time, Nancy has been an avid supporter and never missed an opportunity to volunteer.

Family and friends are invited to gather Monday, January 3, 2021, from 6 – 8 pm at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 3500 Bristol – Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, PA 19057. Funeral service will begin at 8 pm. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

What Is An Obituary

In national newspapers an obituary (obit for short) is a news article that reports the recent death of a prominent person. Although it tends to focus on positive aspects of the subject’s life this is not always the case. According to Nigel Farndale, the Obituaries Editor of The Times: “Obits should be life affirming rather than gloomy, but they should also be opinionated, leaving the reader with a strong sense of whether the subject lived a good life or bad; whether they were right or wrong in the handling of their public affairs.”

In local newspapers, an obituary may be published for any local resident upon death. A necrology is a register or list of records of the deaths of people related to a particular organization, group or field, which may only contain the sparsest details, or small obituaries. Historical necrologies can be important sources of information.
