Death – Obituary

Anne Marie Jusell, 94, of Vienna Virginia, passed away on May 16, 2021. Anne was born in Akron, Ohio to Vincent and Agnes Lukacik on August 4, 1926. She graduated from Akron University with a degree in nursing. She married Ralph Jusell on June 4, 1955. Anne moved with her husband to Vienna, Virginia where they spent their lives, with the exception of two brief moves to Germany for her husband’s work. Anne worked as an ER nurse for Fairfax Hospital for most of her career, and transitioned to Labor & Delivery late in her career. Anne loved tennis, dance, gardening and long walks. Anne is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Jusell. Anne is survived by her children, Susan Jusell-Lappin, Joan Jusell Hoover and husband Dna, Robert Jusell and wife Susan, Barbara Gamble and husband Tim, Jennifer Jusell, 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. The family of Anne Jusell wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Heartland House in Grasonville, Maryland.

What Is An Obituary

In national newspapers an obituary (obit for short) is a news article that reports the recent death of a prominent person. Although it tends to focus on positive aspects of the subject’s life this is not always the case. According to Nigel Farndale, the Obituaries Editor of The Times: “Obits should be life affirming rather than gloomy, but they should also be opinionated, leaving the reader with a strong sense of whether the subject lived a good life or bad; whether they were right or wrong in the handling of their public affairs.”

In local newspapers, an obituary may be published for any local resident upon death. A necrology is a register or list of records of the deaths of people related to a particular organization, group or field, which may only contain the sparsest details, or small obituaries. Historical necrologies can be important sources of information.
