John Franklin (Frank) Neese passed away at Alamance Regional Hospital early in the morning, Thursday December 23rd from heart complications.

He was born in Guildford County on March 31, 1947, He attended Walter M. Williams high school.

Frank was preceded in death by his father Walter Leonard Neese and mother Janie Agnes Foster Neese.

Frank is survived by his daughter Pamela Neese Hadley and husband David of Graham. Three grandchildren whom he loved very much, Meredith Anne Hadley of Carrboro, Melissa Hadley Campbell and husband Shawn and Nolan Alan Hadley of Graham. And his first great grandchild to be born in May.

Frank was also survived by his sister Rosa Norris and husband Jerry, Brother Mickey Neese and wife Chris and Sister Marlene Clemmons and husband Jim and several nieces and nephews. Also dear to his heart was his four legged friend MiMi.

Throughout his life he worked in many hosiery mills in Alamance County and in the early 1970’s he owned and operated Neese Hosiery mill, which he ran for nearly 20 years. He was frequently called by other mills to program new machine patterns and make repairs. He was often called “ The Fixer”.

He enjoyed boating, fishing and was an avid racecar fan. He also enjoyed vintage cars and motorcycles. In his younger days, he won many trophies for racing his Triumph motorcycle, Harley Davison Sportster, and his Ford Fairlane at Piedmont Drag Strip.

Frank was loved by his family and all who knew him, while we will miss him greatly, we are at peace knowing his pain and suffering are behind him.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, Dec. 30th 2021 at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Steve Loy. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to American Heart Association or Swepsonville United Methodist Church.

In national newspapers an obituary (obit for short) is a news article that reports the recent death of a prominent person. Although it tends to focus on positive aspects of the subject’s life this is not always the case. According to Nigel Farndale, the Obituaries Editor of The Times: “Obits should be life affirming rather than gloomy, but they should also be opinionated, leaving the reader with a strong sense of whether the subject lived a good life or bad; whether they were right or wrong in the handling of their public affairs.”

In local newspapers, an obituary may be published for any local resident upon death. A necrology is a register or list of records of the deaths of people related to a particular organization, group or field, which may only contain the sparsest details, or small obituaries. Historical necrologies can be important sources of information.
