17 Mile Rd was closed down for hours while police investigated.

KENT COUNTY, Mich. — UPDATE 10:45 P.M.

A man has died following a crash involving a SUV and dump truck Wednesday evening. Police say the 76-year-old Cedar Springs man was pronounced dead at the scene. 

17 Mile Road was shut down for hours while multiple crews assisted in the investigation. What led up to the crash is still unknown, but police say no citations have been issued. 

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious injury crash involving a dump truck and an SUV. 

Police say the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on 17 Mile Road NE and Shaner Avenue NE in Nelson Township. It is not yet known how many people were involved in the crash, but we do know it did result in serious injury.

17 Mile Rd is expected to be closed for some time as deputies continue to work the scene.

Multiple crews are on scene assisting in the investigation and clean-up.

In local newspapers, an obituary may be published for any local resident upon death. A necrology is a register or list of records of the deaths of people related to a particular organization, group or field, which may only contain the sparsest details, or small obituaries. Historical necrologies can be important sources of information.
