Patricia L. Martinez

Patricia L. Martinez, 69, of Pueblo, passed away on Dec. 9, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Louise Martinez; siblings, Tony Smith, Ben Martinez, Florence Martinez, Emily Martinez and Mary Jane Martinez; father-in-law, Albert L. Martinez; and brother-in-law, Frank Martinez. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Albert Martinez Jr.; daughter, Bridget (Edward) Darnell; son, Albert Martinez III; grandchildren, Lexis, Elijah, Edward Jr. and Layla; brother, John (Cathy) Martinez; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Rosary, 10 a.m., followed by Mass of the Resurrection, 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, Holy Family Church. Interment to follow, Imperial Memorial Gardens. Service may be viewed through livestream on Facebook at Romero Family Funeral Home Pueblo and YouTube at Romero Family Funeral Home Pueblo. What Is An Obituary

In national newspapers an obituary (obit for short) is a news article that reports the recent death of a prominent person. Although it tends to focus on positive aspects of the subject’s life this is not always the case. According to Nigel Farndale, the Obituaries Editor of The Times: “Obits should be life affirming rather than gloomy, but they should also be opinionated, leaving the reader with a strong sense of whether the subject lived a good life or bad; whether they were right or wrong in the handling of their public affairs.”

In local newspapers, an obituary may be published for any local resident upon death. A necrology is a register or list of records of the deaths of people related to a particular organization, group or field, which may only contain the sparsest details, or small obituaries. Historical necrologies can be important sources of information.
