An 18-year-old was found dead after a shooting occurred at a Sarasota park.

Sarasota County deputies said it occurred around 10:48 p.m. Wednesday at Ackerman Park, which is located at 400 Apex Road.

They said the young man, who was not publicly identified by the sheriff’s office, was “struck and killed by gunfire.” Detectives said the shooting appears to be “isolated” and there is no danger to the public.

There is no word yet on whether detectives have identified as a suspect or made an arrest.
