Robert A. Pisani

Hasbrouck Heights – Robert A. Pisani of Hasbrouck Heights formerly of Union City passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022. Born in Guttenberg to the late Gemma and Nello Pisani. Robert was raised in Union City, graduating from Emerson High School and St. Peter’s University. He was their only child. He met and married the girl next door, Maryann (nee Grigis) in June 1968. Devoted father of Robert Pisani and his wife Dana. They were the love of his life. He was an avid crossword and puzzle gamer, Yankee and Jets season was a priority. His favorite time of the year was Christmas and summer vacations. Bob worked at Met Life as an underwriter and then as an actuary for 35 years and Prudential Insurance for another 5 years before retiring. He enjoyed and loved his work place friends and continued to correspond throughout the year. He enjoyed travel and loved the peace and beauty of the Western States. Robert and Maryann traveled extensively throughout the West, New England and the Southern States and to Italy where both of his parents were born. Bob was quiet and reserved and respected everyone. He never had a mean word to say about anyone. He will be extremely missed and loved. Funeral from Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Ave. Hasbrouck Heights on Wednesday, January 12th at 10 AM. Funeral Liturgy from Corpus Christi R.C. Church Hasbrouck Heights at 11 AM. Entombment following at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington. What Is An Obituary

In national newspapers an obituary (obit for short) is a news article that reports the recent death of a prominent person. Although it tends to focus on positive aspects of the subject’s life this is not always the case. According to Nigel Farndale, the Obituaries Editor of The Times: “Obits should be life affirming rather than gloomy, but they should also be opinionated, leaving the reader with a strong sense of whether the subject lived a good life or bad; whether they were right or wrong in the handling of their public affairs.”

In local newspapers, an obituary may be published for any local resident upon death. A necrology is a register or list of records of the deaths of people related to a particular organization, group or field, which may only contain the sparsest details, or small obituaries. Historical necrologies can be important sources of information.
