MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing his wife.

On Jan. 3, Memphis police responded to a shooting at 2003 Burnham Ave.

According to an affidavit, they found an unresponsive woman suffering from a gunshot wound.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Her death was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner, records show.

According to the affidavit, a child inside the home told them the woman had gotten into an argument with her husband, identified as Roy Jones, Sr., 56.

The child told police they heard a gunshot, then Jones said, “I did a bad thing,” records show.

Jones then quickly fled in the woman’s car.

He’s charged with first-degree murder.

In national newspapers an obituary (obit for short) is a news article that reports the recent death of a prominent person. Although it tends to focus on positive aspects of the subject’s life this is not always the case. A necrology is a register or list of records of the deaths of people related to a particular organization, group or field, which may only contain the sparsest details, or small obituaries. Historical necrologies can be important sources of information.
