Chaka was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin and loving father to his 3 beautiful children. He was well known and loved in his community. He grew up on Dumaine St. in the 5th ward before moving to the 9th ward on Delery St. Chaka Stewart was a student at Lawless High School, c/o 1998. He later attended Southern University in Baton Rouge……. Chaka was detained 3 days ago in Clayton County Ga. on May 13th. On today Sunday May 16th 2021 #ChakaStewarts is DEAD. His life was taken away while in custody of prison deputies in Clayton County, Ga. Chaka’s life was taken away not long after his last call to his family in which he spoke of violent and harsh abuse and threats to his life. In the early morning hours, Chaka’s family received a devastating call with limited information reporting his death. Why is he yet another citizen whose demise took place while in custody? How does a trip out of town lead to death after being detained. No gun or drugs or anything was found that posed as a threat during his arrest! We need answers, we can’t and won’t tolerate a coverup. #prisonreform is needed. The deputies involved & the ClaytonCountysheriff Dept need to provide answers and transparency.
